I am a Japanese-American dance artist, choreographer, and educator based in Brooklyn, New York. I highlight, yet distort, the human anatomy through contemporary movement, poetic imagery, and improvisation. By embodying the spirit of my rebellious female lineage, both known and unknown, I bridge the distance between myself and my ancestral roots. Honoring my sensual and fluid nature, I illuminate the complexities and consequences of patriarchy in Japan and the West.
My work has been presented at Triskelion Arts, ODC San Francisco's State of Play festival, THAT SHOW, Heat Index, and LUNGS Harvest Arts Festival. I have been invited to teach for the Limon Dance Company Summer Intensive, BigKid Summer and Winter Create + Connect, Gibney Dance Summer Studies, DISCO RIOT, and FORZA Dance.
Since earning my BFA from Point Park University in 2019, I have been a long-standing member of Sidra Bell Dance New York (SBDNY). In 2022, I was appointed Rehearsal Director. With the company, I have taught at institutions such as Harvard University, The Juilliard School, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, University of the Arts, SUNY Purchase, and more.
Throughout my career, I have also had the privilege of performing for Volta Collective, Ayoung Kim, Mark Caserta, Doron Perk, Kanon Sugino, KOSTAS Contemporary, Adrienne Swan, Alicia Steeves, Morgan Cogley, and wldflwr dance collective.
